Renaming and resizing image file. Optimize and prevent a backlog of unorganized files from building up, which could cause data to be lost or deleted resulting from incorrect filenames, such as special characters used in filenames.

Do I need this when I have less than 50 images?
Yes, here is why. WordPress creates 4-6 resizes by default for every image you upload to your site. Your theme, or other plugins you have installed, may add additional sizes to be created for each upload. So while you might look at the Media Library and think you only have 100 images, it is likely that you have at least 500. As a rough estimate, you can simply multiply the number of resizes by the number of images listed in the Media Library.Â
